1. USE A STRONG PASSWORD AND CHANGE REGULARLY
You should use a very strong password to protect your social media account from hacking. We are using very simple password to remember in our memory like as date of birth, mobile no, employee id, and 123456, which is one of the vital reasons for cyber-attacks. So, create a strong password for your social media account and change them on a regular basis (i.e., Between 30 and 180 days).
The password length should at least 10 characters long.
The password must have uppercase letters (A – Z), lowercase letters (a – z), numbers (0 – 9), and special character (@, #, $, %, ^, (,), &, *!).
Example for strong password: P#58u^tu@%9 is a strong password and standard password
It is strongly recommended to you that use strong and unique password for multiple social media accounts. If you use same password for different accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and if a hacker gets access to your one account then all other accounts will be vulnerable.
So, it is better to use unique and different password for multiple account.

3. DON’T SHARE YOUR PASSWORD
If you share your password with others, then there has no guarantee that he/she can keep your password perfectly secure and he/she will not do anything that can impact on your account. So, don’t share your password with others even your best friends, and place the password in a secret place.
4. DON’T SAVE YOUR PASSWORD ON web BROWSER
Don’t save your password on web browser because if your computer or mobile device is ever lost or stolen then he/she will get complete access to your social media accounts.
Even, storing your passwords on web browser will make your accounts is more vulnerable to your roommates, family members, and visitors also.
5. INSTALL ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE
Antivirus software is a security programs that helps to protect your computer against viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other unwanted threats. It is very important because its scans every file which comes through the Internet or USB devices to your computer and helps to protect damage to your system.
It is also suggested to you that you should use professional anti-virus software such as Bitdefender, Norton, Kaspersky, Panda, ESET, Avast, AVG and keep updated with update version.
6. BE CONFIRM before ACCEPT FRIEND REQUESTS
When someone want to friends with you in Facebook or others account, then at first visit his/her profile page and if you don’t know, then never accept his/her request. It could be a fake account to harass you.
7. BE CAREFUL ABOUT SHARE a NEW POST
When you want to share a new post in Facebook or others account, so think yourself that the post has any negative impact to others such as is it political or is it traitorous post. So, please add an useful post, which can help to your social media friends.
8. KEEP YOUR INFORMATION IN PRIVATE
Do not provide your personal information such as phone number, bank account details, email address and contact information in your profile and posts.

9. DO NOT CLICK ON SUSPICIOUS LINK
When you can see a link in a post, which seems to be suspicious then please don’t click on it. If you click on that link, then there has a chance to redirect a vulnerable website and your sensitive information will compromised by attacker.
10. Set Your Profile to Private
This is another important social media safety tips for youth because a private profile lets only people you invite to see what you post. It is also important because someone can use your personal information for the bad reasons or sell your information to third party in order to generate profit.
